Awareness and Depression (family/survivor model) - Ron Sasso, MS, NCC, LPC and Justine Ashokar, MS, NCC, LPC of Community Transitions presented this Awareness Model at the 8th International Congress on Brain Injury in Washington, D.C. They also presented this Clinician's Awareness Model at Mayo Clinic's 15th Annual Brain Injury Conference. The model shows the relationship between awareness and depression.

Bicycle Helmet Statistics - Provides information on how a helmet can protect a person from a brain injury as well as statistics about people who chose not to play it safe.

Brain and Lobe Functions - Gives a general breakdown of each lobe of the brain and what it does.

Catastrophic Reaction - Is one of the most important things to understand about people with brain injury.

Coma and Functional Outcomes - This abstract raises questions regarding outcome predictions due to variability of functional outcomes in brain injured patients.

Memory Process - Attention is the first stage in forming memories. Then memories must be encoded (using working memory). Memories are then consolidated and stored in long term memory. After that, memories must be retrieved for recall of the information. If any part of this process breaks down, the memory process will not be effective.
